This is one of the many reasons that Alaska is so popular. Many people wonder what makes the king salmon so spectacular in size. The reason that this occurs is that the king salmon actually spends a few years in the ocean. When the king salmon spends this much time in the ocean, they experience a growth spurt which results in their extremely large size. This is why the king salmon is so popular.
